| HOSANNA HOUSE - GIRLS HOME PROJECT |
|
For our latest project we have purchased a plot of land very close to Masaka Town and to the largest Secondary School in the area. After thinking about this project for some time it has happened so quickly, we were shown the plot on a Friday and 6 days later it was ours! The plot had a half finished house on it that we have completed.
Note: News is added to the top of this page so the start of the project is explained at the bottom of the page. |

Hosanna House phase 1 is almost ready for occupation, a few doors, electrical and plumbing fittings to be added and it will be ready for the first girls to move in.

| Building work is progressing well on the first three homes and the toilet/shower block. This after a false start when we discovered that the accomodation block was being build in the wrong place! The first 2 girls, Rosette and Teddy are currently living in the cottage in the grounds of our home, waiting for their home to be built and the new school term to start. | |

On the rest of the plot we are planning to build some accommodation for vulnerable girls in S5 & S6 (who are studying for their A levels). We have heard of several cases where girls of this age either end up living in very poor accommodation or fall prey to a 'sugar-daddy'! We had drawn up plans for 5 homes each for 2 girls and a home for a warden / guardian to oversee the project. There is also a communal dining room, which will double as short term accommodation for exam groups or visitors as needed, a kitchen area and 3 shower rooms & 3 toilets. Because it is within the Municipality we had to obtain planning permission for the project, this has now been granted so we can start building the girls homes. |

This picture shows the finished house. Each 3 room block will cost about 13 million shillings (£4000) to build and provide with electricity and the kitchen/dining room about the same. Thank you to all who have contributed. We started building 3 housing units and the utilities block in November 2006. |

Ongoing Costs. Once the building is completed (the first phases should be completed by December 2006), so from the start of the new school year at the end of January 2007 we want to be able to offer the first group of girls a home. Which girls we are able to provide this housing for will depend on the funds available. We would really like to be able to provide these homes to Girls from poor villages/homes, but then we will need to pay for their school fees, requirements and food. We estimate that this will cost about £60 per girl per month. The warden / guardian will need to be paid about £50 per month. Please consider helping with this. Email us for details. Thank you |
Thank you very much for your help and prayers. |

Kitchen & Dining Room Maybe you would like to contribute towards the completion of the Utilities Block. We need about £4000 to complete this block. |
Accommodation 1 Would you like to buy a unit - we will then give that home a name of your choice! £1200 will build a complete unit! We have funds to build 3 units and need funds for a further 3. |
